Rialto Summer Cinema continues with The Brand New Testament

This multi-awarded fantasy dark comedy by Jaco Van Dormael, that is both hilarious and surreal, was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language.


The Story:

God exists! He lives in Brussels and He's a real scoundrel. A tyrannical force in the lives of the masses, He drinks, smokes and spends his time tormenting humanity. His younger daughter has had enough of her Father's abuse and her lockdown, and she decides to “come down” to earth, and offer people a new way of living: a Brand New Testament.

After studying film at the INSAS (Brussels) and LOUIS-LUMIERE INSTITUTE (Paris), Jaco Van Dormael started his career as a director of children’s theater plays. He then began directing short films in the early 1980s, several times rewarded in festivals. His first feature film, TOTO THE HERO (1991) is awarded the Camera d’Or at Cannes. In parallel, Jaco Van Dormael is also a theater and opera director.


Subtitles: All films will be screened in their original language, and will be subtitled both in Greek and in English.

General instructions for the audience:


To ensure the safety of all attendees, viewers must purchase their tickets in advance, either online at https://rialto.interticket.com/ or by calling the Rialto’s box office. Two types of tickets will be available for sale: €8 per person (open-air tickets) and €16 per car (drive-in tickets).


For a controlled and smooth access of the audience, drive-in tickets may only be purchased up to 24 hours before the screening and drivers may only be allowed to park their car by 20:45 the latest. To avoid overcrowding, also the chair seat viewers are kindly requested to arrive on time.
