Open Call - Flash Art Festival 2025

Rialto Theatre announces the open call for Flash Art Festival 2025. The festival will take place on the 28th and 29th of November. Since 2020- that the program was launched- Rialto Theatre supported 47 productions and more than 220 artists. The program assisted the artistic community of Cyprus in overcoming the enormous difficulties during the pandemic but also promoted/supported productions from various fields of the performing arts.

The forthcoming sixth edition of the programme will be developed/evolve into a festival aiming in expanding even further its long-term goals. The program aspires not only in strengthening the possibilities of production, visibility, and promotion of Cyprus based artists but also in empowering diversity, and exchange within interdisciplinary art forms.

Those interested can submit proposals for new or existing creations (not before 2023). The duration of the performance/project/act should be between 30-90 minutes. The audience members will be seated on stage and each night the festival’s programme will host more than one performance/project/act (double/triple bill).

The selected productions shall benefit from the following services:

1. Financial support of the production

2. Free use of the Theatre 

3. Usage of the existing technical equipment and personnel 

4. Promotion and advertisement

   
   

The primary objective of this first festival edition is the encouragement of artistic production, by Cyprus-based artists/performers and creators who combine performing arts with digital or other forms of art. 

The selection criteria are the following: artistic relevance, originality, the well-defined relation between the research/creative process and the outcome and the final presentation/outcome of the work. An additional criterion is the research and/or creative interconnection between various artistic forms.

The Chief Executive of the organisation has the eligibility in will also invite performances/projects/acts and/or commision artists to participate at the festival (from Cyprus or abroad).

Note: The organizers reserve the right not to include in the festival’s programme performances/projects/acts that will be submitted through the open call

Applications may be submitted by individuals, organizations, collectives, and institutions.

All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee and the Chef Executive of Rialto Theatre. The selected applicants will be informed by July 30th2025.
