The grand opening on Saturday, 10 October

The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus raises the curtain on its 16th edition on Saturday 10 October at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol. For seven days, until 16 October, the festival welcomes filmmakers from Cyprus and around the world, with short films, special screenings and events beyond the big screen.

The festival draws its inspiration from the restless energy of adolescence. This year's edition overflows with a hunger for life: for the joy that exists in the world, despite everything happening in it, and perhaps even because of it. Shifting in mood and form, the programme moves between different stories and ways of seeing, making the festival a place of encounter, curiosity and shared experience.

The festival opens on Saturday 10 October at 8:00 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre with the ceremony "The Open Call: A Cheap, Ideal Idea", directed by Marios Kakoullis.

An ode to open calls. To those "submit your idea by 23:59" deadlines that keep us up all night, doubting, rewriting, hoping. To the ideas that sometimes get selected, and the many more that don't. To the projects that never happened, but carried us on to the next idea.Because that's how it all begins: with a cheap, ideal idea.
