The 5th DOT.ON.THE.MAP INDUSTRY DAYSannounces the PROGRAMME OF EVENTS

Dot.on.the.Map Ιndustry Days, the co-production, training and networking platform for film industry professionals of the 22nd Cyprus Film Days IF, will hold its 5th edition in Limassol, Cyprus (18 – 20 April, 2024). Τhe CFD IF is an institutional event of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture, organised by the Department of Contemporary Culture in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre. Cypriot producer – director Danae Stylianou is head of Dot.on.the.Map Ιndustry Days.


During the 3-day event, producers, directors and scriptwriters from the Mediterranean region, will have a unique opportunity to pitch their feature length fiction film projects to members of the international film industry, in Cyprus. Dot.on.the.Map Industry Days provides an excellent opportunity to network with industry professionals from across Europe, and the MENA region, and to explore co-production and distribution opportunities, discuss new projects in development, and pursue cross border collaborations.

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS


With an aim to provide educational and networking opportunities for film professionals, Dot.on.the.Map Ιndustry Days presents CINEMA TALKS - a series of events, panel discussions, and masterclasses intended exclusively for accredited industry professionals. All the events of Dot.on.the.Map Ιndustry Days will take place at the Rialto Theatre, in Limassol.


Friday 19 April, 2024


11:00 Pitching Session

Dot.on.the.Map will officially launch its activities on Friday, 19 April, 2024 at 11a.m. with the pitching session at the Rialto Theatre. Teams of producers - directors with projects originating from countries of the Mediterranean region will "pitch" their new feature length fiction film projects within the Dot.on.the.Map Meeting Point co-production forum, to representatives of the international film industry. Following group works and individual meetings, the filmmakers will take steps towards forming future collaborations with other filmmakers, international producers, financiers, sales agents, broadcasters, distributors, festival and film fund representatives. The Dot.on.the.Map Meeting Point co-production forum is implemented in partnership with Agora, Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The pitching session will be moderated by Hakim Mao, Initiative Film.

14:30 PANEL DISCUSSION SEE Cinema Network “Cinematic Unity: Strengthening Southeast European Film Industry through Regional Collaboration"

Presented by script and story editor Kate Leys (UK)

In this masterclass, Kate Leys will discuss story, screenwriting and voice. Having spent a lifetime working with writers and screenplays, developing projects all over the world with films screened in all the major festivals, Kate will share the most important things she's learned.


About Kate Leys:

Kate Leys is a script and story editor who has worked on feature films at all stages of development, all over the world, for her whole life. Credits include LADY MACBETH (dir. William Oldroyd), I AM NOT A WITCH (dir. Rungano Nyoni), DARK RIVER (dir. Clio Barnard), KINGDOM OF US (dir. Lucy Cohen). She has been head of development at several companies including Film4, where she was based for 6 years and where she was part of the small team commissioning and developing some of the UK's most successful feature films including FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL (dir. Mike Newell), TRAINSPOTTING (dir. Danny Boyle), EAST IS EAST (dir. Damien O'Donnell) and GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING (dir. Peter Webber). TV credits include THE VALHALLA MURDERS (dir. Thordur Palsson - Netflix); I AM series1 (C4); BABYLON (C4), BUFFERING series 2 (ITV3) and HOFF THE RECORD (Dave, winner Int’l Emmy 2016). Together we will explore how these film industries can be inspired by the experiences of each other, having as a common basis their small yet unique island landscape. The speakers will also share ways in which they managed to work in successful co-production structures and will outline their vision on employing strategies to ensure sustainability.
