November Programme 2024
*2 SAT 11:00 (35΄) (Ages: 2-5)
Famiglie / La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi
Italy Ι Mitsikouri - ASSITEJ
In a place that could be a shop window, two characters set up the spaces. They establish a relation through non-verbal language, and through this relation, made of glances and movements, they tell stories
.
While dressing some mannequins, different situations happen, in which the two actors play and interact. The gaze of the audience can recognize, interpret freely and give them a personal meaning.
A show to let children approach the idea of family, by suggesting reflections and raising questions, without giving easy answers. An opportunity to investigate your point of view and open your mind to other possible realities. What is a family? Who is a family? Does having children define a family? Does having a mom and dad define a family? Do grandparents belong to the family? Does a family have to live in the same place? Can members of a family be part of other families?
Dramaturgy: Andrea Buzzetti
Direction: Andrea Buzzetti with the collaboration of Carlotta Zini and Enrico Montalbani
Choreography-Movement Direction: Andra Burcâ
Performers: Andrea Buzzetti, Lorenzo Monti

CIUDADES II - Arquitecturas en movimiento - Milímetro
Spain Ι Mitsikouri - ASSITEJ
A creation that is built through the body, the voice, the manipulation of objects and live music. A living installation created with multiple small cardboard bricks that define structures and landscapes, transformed through light, objects, color, music and other plastic materials. This is the story οf an imaginary city, a possible city that welcomes all the cities of the world. Here the roofs have antennas and the houses search for frequencies. Destroy to build, build to listen, tune to transform. A place without a name, for you to put your own.

Angels in America – Dionysus Theatre (16+)
Tony Kushner’s Angels in America: Millenium Approaches is a profoundly political work, regarded as one of the most significant contemporary theatrical plays. Through escalating conflicts, the crisis reveals itself on a political, sexual, religious, economic, ecological, healthcare, and most importantly, moral level. The Reagan US administration echoes the era we live in, marked by the rise of the extreme right.
Our times unmistakably resemble that very period. In the wake of the global economic downturn, rigidly adhering to “normality” sparks the resentment of citizens who desperately seek solutions. The seeming sexual freedom of our times continues to be plagued with crimes against diversity, and fueled by public hate speech. Despair often leads to a dramatic turn towards religion, seeking guidance in a desperate attempt to find solutions. We, people, have already destroyed the planet. Corruption by public figures and institutions is indeed unfathomable, whereas one political scandal follows another. The citizens’ trust in politicians is long lost—a fully disoriented society. Last but not least, the Covid 19 pandemic has shattered norms and fractured global solidarity, while spreading panic and death.

Oscar et la Dame Rose – Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt
Antilogos Theatre
“When medicine can no longer save you, you can still be saved by humour and imagination”. Relevant to our days and profoundly humane, Oscar and the Lady in Pink tells a story about life itself, offering a message of hope despite the gravity of its subject.
Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt’s work is a heartfelt narrative about life, full of sensitivity and humour, seen through the eyes of a little boy. It is a short masterpiece of ultimate simplicity and depth, a poignant and deeply humane tale.
Oscar, the protagonist, is a ten-year-old boy suffering from leukemia who is hospitalised in a children’s clinic. His condition being terminal, doctors have exhausted all options for treating the disease. In an attempt to face fear and loneliness, he develops a special bond with the Lady in Pink who volunteers for the hospital. Mamie-Rose helps Oscar see life from a new perspective and proposes that he write letters to God as a way of communicating and expressing his emotions.
Through these letters, Oscar shares his thoughts on life, love, and death. The Lady in Pink invents a game: from this day onwards, every day counts for ten years. In this way, he has the opportunity to experience all stages of life – to be an adolescent, to fall in love, to get married, and to grow old.
The work explores profound existential themes such as mortality and the need to be loved, emphasising the importance of living fully in each moment. It offers an optimistic perspective on life, even in the most challenging of times, encouraging viewers to reflect on the true essence of life.

The concert opens with the intensely dramatic Overture to Mozart’s Don Giovanni followed by his delightful and virtuosic Rondo for Piano and Orchestra.
