Suzy’s Christmas Journey: A World of Carols
Cyprus Symphony Orchestra
A musical adventure for children with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra! In the heart of Athalassa Park lives Suzie the Fox. Suzie is not an ordinary fox! She loves collecting the sounds of nature: the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves, the sound of rain. But above all, she loves music, especially Christmas songs!
One day, she wonders: “How does Christmas sound in Spain? In Argentina? In China?” And just like that, Suzie sets off on a magical journey around the world, discovering festive traditions, songs, and colours from different cultures, together with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, the ΣymphoΠedia Children’s choir and maestro Kyriaki Kountouri, while Mara Constantinou will be narrating her adventures. Projections of images and animations will accompany the music and storytelling. A festive concert for the whole family, filled with rhythm, love, and holiday magic - a musical adventure to warm every heart!

Zer-brech-lich - Alessandro Schiattarella & Ensemble
Beyond Distance Festival
The sound of shattering glass, a balloon exploding, or wood cracking — we all know how breaking sounds. But what is the sound of something saved from breaking? Zer-Brech-Lich, created by choreographer Alessandro Schiattarella & Ensemble, explores fragility and diversity of bodies through music-dance-theatre. On stage, disabled performers Victoria Antonova, Alice Giuliani, and Laila White use dance, text, sound, objects, and original songs by Swiss artist Gina ÉTÉ to question identity. They play with sounds like trying on clothes, searching for transformation and pop moments. The work asks how embracing fragility can become a political message and open new inclusive experiences.
YEAR OF CREATION/DEVELOPMENT: 2023
Alessandro Schiattarella is a Swiss-Neapolitan choreographer, performer, and disability advocate based in Basel. After an international career as a solo dancer, he developed his own choreographic language, shaped by his lived experience with Hirayama disease and a commitment to anti-ableist aesthetics. His work explores the politics of the body, challenging normative ideals of ability and presence. Blending dance, text, sound, and spatial experimentation, his interdisciplinary pieces centre care, fragility, and interdependence as both artistic and political values. His creations are presented internationally, in theatres, site-specific locations, and festival contexts. Since 2024, he has been artistic co-director of DISFRAME (formerly IntegrART), a Swiss network for inclusive performing arts. In this role, he works to expand accessibility and foster systemic change by supporting artists and curators engaged with disability discourse. Trained at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Rudra Béjart Lausanne, Alessandro also holds a Master of Advanced Studies in Fine Arts from HGK FHNW and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Dance Science from the University of Bern.

The Princess and the Pea – Epilogi Cultural Movement
Epilogi Cultural Movement presents the children’s opera The Princess and the Pea, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved fairy tale. Framed by arias from the classical repertoire, the production introduces the world of opera in an imaginative and educational way.
The value of authenticity and inner quality is not apparent at first glance. The “princess” is not recognised by her outward appearance or title, but rather by her sensitivity and delicacy of spirit, symbolised by the small pea. A person’s true worth and truth are revealed through small yet meaningful trials, offering a valuable lesson in kindness and authenticity in everyday life.
