Live Programmes

The Met: Live in HD

In December 2006, The Metropolitan Opera launched The Met: Live in HD, a series of performance transmissions shown live in high definition in movie theaters around the world. The series expanded from an initial six transmissions to 12 in the 2012–13 season and today reaches more than 1,700 venues in 54 countries, making the Met the only arts institution with an ongoing global art series of this scale. The Met was the first arts company to experiment as an alternative content provider, beginning on a modest scale in 2006. Since then, its program has grown every season, with more than 9.6 million tickets sold to date.

Met opera stars serve as hosts for the HD series, conducting live interviews with cast, crew, and production teams, and introducing the popular behind-the-scenes features; altogether the worldwide HD audience is given an unprecedented look at what goes into the staging of an opera at one of the world’s great houses. The award-winning program’s screenings «The Met: Live in HD» launched in Cyprus on December 15 2012, with the classic masterpiece of Verdi «Aida», with the cooperation of ANT1 group and the RIALTO theatre. 


National Theatre Live

National Theatre Live is an exciting initiative of the Royal National Theatre in London to broadcast live performances of the best of British theatre to cinemas and movie theatres around the world.

The programme began its pilot season in June 2009 with a production of «Phèdre», starring Helen Mirren, which screened live in 70 cinemas across the UK. 200 more venues eventually showed the production internationally, resulting in a combined audience of around 50,000 people for this one performance. The second production, All's Well That Ends Well, showed at a total of around 300 screens and today, the number of venues that show NT Live productions has grown to around 700.

NT Live launched in Cyprus by RIALTO theatre on September 2012 with Mark Haddon’s celebrated, multi-award-winning novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Simon Stephens.



Royal Opera House

Τhe Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London, home of the Royal Ballet, the most famous ballet of Great Britain, broadcasted from 2009 tohigh standard venues, the program «Royal Opera House live cinema» specially staged for the live public performances.

The broadcasted performances within the program of «Royal Opera House live cinema» have experienced tremendous success and have gained many fans both in the UK and throughout the world. The positive response of the audience contributed to the rise of venues rapidly.

The Royal Ballet has a wide-range repertoire. Presents great classic ballets, works legacy of Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan and new productions of the most famous contemporary choreographers Specifically, the network of the United Kingdom in September 2009 had 45 venues, which in October 2012 reached the 240. As for the international network in September 2009 comprised 120 venues in 12 countries and in October 2012 in 32 countries and 900 number of venues.

The most famous ballets of the world for the first time in Cyprus by the Antenna Group in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre. Starting with the piece "Don Quixote" on November 23, 2013.
