Mission of the Rialto Theatre

The RIALTO Theatre as a cultural non-profit organisation has a multi-dimensional mission that can be summarized as follows:

• Constant and consistent operation for 11 months per annum resulting to a continuous flow of cultural events that cover the entire spectre of performing arts including opera, theatre, music, dance and cinema.

• Offer the opportunity to local creators and institutions to present high calibre works without, or minimal financial cost.

• Project and inform of all the theatre's activities throughout Cyprus and abroad in two languages

• The operation of the theatre in a downgraded area, has succeeded in upgrading and placing Heroes' Square back to its former position in the town's life

• Offer the public healthy entertainment through a balanced programme of high calibre professional performances, contributing to the aesthetic and intellectual culture of the citizens and to the upgrading of the cultural standard of our country.

• Ensure that the creators and artists are received and hosted in the best possible way and that they have the right conditions for the presentation of their work. Audiences are also competently efficiently welcomed

• Subsidising the entrance fee for all the performances so that the public is encouraged to attend as many events as possible, thus offering not only entertainment but also assist in the cultivation of its mind by gaining knowledge and developing critical opinion. Invitations and free admission for particular performances are given to specially targeted social groups such as school children and students

• Collaborations and co-productions with government services, municipalities and non-profit organisations. Close collaboration with the city's most significant professional cultural organisations

• Establish festivals, performances and tributes that contribute to Limassol's cultural upgrade as well as being mapped on the European and international cultural map as a city with significant cultural profile and activity

• Attract and involve all the social associations, companies and organisations in matters of culture



Since its inauguration the Rialto Theatre had  hundreds of thousands of spectators attending over 1,000 performances, of which in about 40% were musical, 22% theatrical 18% film screenings 16% dance performances while the last 4% were opera performances and other events.
